Remember to Breath - Dashboard Confessional

Remember to Breath - Dashboard Confessional

She fixes her lips they
Always look perfect
never a smudged line
never too much
I try on my blue shirt
she told me she liked it, once
she wonders what I'll wear
she knows just what she'll wear
she always wears blue
so, sneakers or flip flops?
I'm starting to panic
remember she asked you
remember to breathe
and everything will be okay
okay
Alright

Play-A-Day (Day ??)

Lights up on two separate scenes. One scene is a boys bedroom and the other a girls bedroom. Both are of the same approximate age. There is a boy in the boys room and a girl in the girls. They are both on the phone. Towards the end of the conversation they both begin to smile a lot and then they both hang up at the same time. The boy jumps for joy and is unable to hide his joy. The girl grabs her pillow and she screams into it and then jumps out of her bed and runs to her closet/dresser and begins pulling clothes out and mixing and matching what she will wear. The boy finally calms down and standing on top of his bed he stops and looks around and freaks out and realizes he has to find something to wear. He jumps off his bed and looks for clothes to wear. Lights fade. When the lights return both of the previous sets are gone and all that is there is a door step with a door at the top. The boy then enters from offstage dressed nicely with flowers in hand. He walks up to the door and knocks after a moment the girl arrives at the door in a pretty summer dress and smiles at the boy when she sees him.

Boy
Hey

Girl
Hey

Boy
These are for you

Girl
Oh wow, they're amazing [Blushes]

Boy
So, you ready to go?

Girl
Yep

Boy
[Holding his arm out for her to take which she does.] Well let's go

Lights fade

Waiting on the World to Change - John Mayer

Waiting on the World to Change - John Mayer

Me and all my friends
We're all misunderstood
They say we stand for nothing and
There's no way we ever could
Now we see everything that's going wrong
With the world and those who lead it
We just feel like we don't have the means
To rise above and beat it
So we keep waiting
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change
It's hard to beat the system
When we're standing at a distance
So we keep waiting
Waiting on the world to change
Now if we had the power
To bring our neighbors home from war
They would have never missed a Christmas
No more ribbons on their door
And when you trust your television
What you get is what you got
Cause when they own the information,
oh They can bend it all they want
That's why we're waiting
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change
It's not that we don't care,
We just know that the fight ain't fair
So we keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change
And we're still waiting
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting waiting on the world to change
One day our generation
Is gonna rule the population
So we keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change

Play-A-Day (Day ??)

Lights up on a young boy sitting on a metal chair in the middle of the stage. At the beginning there is nothing around him. Lights then fade. When they return the boy is still sitting there. All around him are other young children playing school yard games such as hop scotch, jacks, marbles, etc. The boy merely sits there waiting.

One of the children
Hey do you wanna play with us [to the boy]

Boy
No thanks, I'm waiting.

Lights fade. When lights return there is a teenage boy sitting in the same chair. All around him are young couples dancing under a slowly spinning disco ball. After a little while one of the girls not dancing in the room walks over to the teenager.

Girl
Would you like to dance?

Boy
No thanks, I'm waiting.

Lights fade. When lights return a young man is sitting in the chair and people passing by him on and offstage are all wearing business suites and are caugh up in the hustle and bustle of thier lives. Then one of the business people approaches the young man.

Business Man
Hey my boss is looking for new potential and was wondering if you'd like to come in for an interview?

Man
No thanks, I'm waiting.

Lights fade. When lights return a old man is sitting in the chair alone and no one is around him.

Man
Only a little while longer.

Lights fade.

Bed of Lies - Matchbox Twenty

Bed of Lies - Matchbox Twenty

No I would not sleep in this bed of lies
So toss me out and turn in
And therell be no rest for these tired eyes
Im marking it down to learning
I am
Dont think that I can take another empty moment
Dont think that I can fake another hollow smile
Its not enough just to be sorry
Dont think that I could take another talk about it
Just like me you got needs
And theyre only a whisper away
And we softly surrender
To these lives that weve tendered away
No I would not sleep in this bed of lies
So toss me out and turn in
And therell be no rest for these tired eyes
Im marking it down to learning
I am
Dont wanna be the one who turns the whole thing over
Dont wanna be somewhere where I just dont belong
Where its not enough just be sorry
Dont you know I feel the darkness closing in
Tried to be more than me
And I gave till it all went away
And weve only surrendered
To the worst part of these winters weve made
No I would not sleep in this bed of lies
So toss me out and turn in
And therell be no rest for these tired eyes
Im marking it down to learningI am
I am all that Ill ever be
When you - lay your hands
Over me but dont go weak on me now
I know that its weak
But God help me I need this
I will not sleep in this bed of lies
So toss me out and turn in
And therell be no rest for these tired eyes
Im marking it down to learning
Im marking it down to learning
cause I am

Play-A-Day (Day??)

Lights up on a small bedroom with a double size bed in the middle. The lights need to remain dimmed with just enough light as to be able to make out the outline of a man and woman having sex on the bed. While they are in the middle of this action a man enters from offstage. He walks towards the bed but hears a noise and then stops. He looks at the bed and notices the movement under the sheets. He then hears a womans voice from the bed. He stands there for a little while longer in shock. He then slowly turns and exits. Lights fade. Lights up on the same setting only this time the man who walked in is in the bed with the woman from before. He is lying on his back in the bed with his head propped up looking about. She has he head on his chest and arm around him.

Man
Can I ask you something and you be totally honest with me?

Woman
Of course you can.

Man
Ok please don't take this the wrong way but, have you ever cheated on me and if so would you have told me?

Woman
Of course i'd tell you and no I havn't [All looking at him curiously]

Man
[Without looking at her] Alright.

Woman
Come on let's get some sleep.

The lights go off and they lay down to go to bed then the man can be seen getting out of bed and turning a small light on.

Woman
Where you going?

Man
Oh just need to get something to drink.

Woman
Alright i'll be here waiting when you get back

The woman then returns to sleeping and the man then stares at her for a little while then exits offstage and all lights go out.

(Yeah)(Come On)(Shake, shake)
I'll take you home if you don't leave me at the front door
(leave me at the front door)
Your body's cold, but girl we're getting so warm

Tonight you're falling in love
(let me go now)
This feeling's stirring me up
(here we go now)
Now if she does it like this, will you do it like that
Now if she touches like this, will you touch her right back
Now if she moves like this, will you move it like that

Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it

Your lips tremble but your eyes are in a straight stare

Tonight you're falling in love
(let me go now)
This feeling's stirring me
(here we go now)
Well I saw you dancing and I couldn't get you off my mind
(I could tell that you could tell that I was taking my time)
I was thinking of ways that you would stay and be mine
(Your body's shaking, turn me on, so I can turn off the lights)

Play-A-Day (Day ??)

While the stage is dark a voice is head from center stage where a single spotlight appears.

Man
Good evening ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to Dancing Through the ages! I'll be your host tonight as we delve into the history of dance and it's evolution. Now for our first stage of dance we have the whoha!

Lights go up on a seperate part of the stage where prehistoric men and woman are chanting going in a circle around a fire. They chant Who, who ha ha, who who.

What a marvelous show they put on. Thankyou thankyou

Lights fade from the circle

How was that. Some good old ancient moves for you there. Now what do we have coming next.

Lights up on a large group of people in Toga's. They are all drinking and have been drinking heavily as there are cups scattered around the group. They all walk randomly and bump into each other. After a while one falls with a knife in his back and someone screams. Lights fade

Wow! enough of that i guess. See folks it's not just today we get carried away with dancing. Up next is from the times of kings and emporers.

Lights up on a grotesquely over dressed woman with hair as big as she is and a dress that is made of dozens of colors with the most delicate care. With her is also an equally grotesque man who is as round as he is tall and at his side is a gargantuan sword which he can't even lift. His crown is enormous. The man and woman both hold mascerade masks to their face and merely take side steps in front of each other and at times also switch sides. Lights fade

The art of kings ladies and gentlemen! Not very delightful if I do say so myself. Finally we have only two times left to view dancing from. Next is from the good ol U S of A.

Lights up on a group of men with banjos. They are all sitting on barrels playing their Banjos with one man in the middle clicking his feet on the group and bobbing up and down. After a minute one yells "Yeeha!!" Lights fade

Well there's good ol america for you. Now finally the pinacle of dance evolution. Ladies and gentlemen I present to you the "Shake"

Lights up on a teenage boy who is standing alone on stage and to all he appears an average kid. Then he bursts out in yelling "Shake shake oh yeah shake it!" and repeats it over and over and over again. He at the same time randomly moves his body about without any organized manor. Lights fade

Well ladies and gentlemen there you have the greatest dances of the ages. I thankyou for you're time and wish you all a wonderful night and safe drive home. Remember to "shake it"

Lights fade

Unwell - Matchbox Twenty

Unwell - Matchbox Twenty

All day
Staring at the ceiling
Making friends with shadows on my wall
All night
Hearing voices telling me
That I should get some sleep
Because tomorrow might be good for something
Hold on
I'm feeling like I'm headed for a Breakdown
I don't know why
I'm not crazy,
I'm just a little unwell
I know, right now you can't tell
But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see
A different side of me
I'm not crazy,
I'm just a little impaired
I know, right now you don't care
But soon enough you're gonna think of me
And how I used to be
Me
Talking to myself in public
Dodging glances on the train
I know I know they've all been talking 'bout me
I can hear them whisper
And it makes me think there must be something wrong
With me
Out of all the hours thinking
Somehow I've lost my mind
I'm not crazy,
I'm just a little unwell
I know, right now you can't tell
But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see
A different side of me
I'm not crazy,
I'm just a little impaired
I know right now you don't care
But soon enough you're gonna think of me
And how I used to be
I been talking in my sleep
Pretty soon they'll come to get me
Yeah, they're taking me away
I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell
I know, right now you can't tell
But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see A different side of me
I'm not crazy I'm just a little impaired
I know, right now you don't care
But soon enough you're gonna think of me
And how I used to be
Hey, how I used to be How
I used to be, yeah
Well I'm just a little unwell
How I used to be
How I used to be

Play-A-Day (Day??)

Lights up on a small room where a man is sitting alone. The entire room room is white (can be padded or not padded depending on stage capacity). The entire room is brightly lit. The man in sitting in the corner of the room and is also in all white. He is muttering something to himself.

Man
Nine hundred ninety-nine...one thousand ready or not here I come. [He stands and looks around] Where oh where are you Mary? Could you be under here? [Picks up an imaginary oobject] Oh guess not. You're a clever hider Mary. I would have hid there if I was you. Huhmm where on earth could Mary be? [Lifting an imaginary lid] Here? Nope. Well arn't you just so smart Mary. Are you cheating Mary. You know you can't be moving around. [Quickly spinning around] Cause that would be cheating. Are you [Spinning around again] There! No? well what about [Spinning around again] There! [Spinning around again] There!

This cycle keeps up for a minute or two until the man becomes dizzy and collapses and two men in white scrubs walk in non chalantly and stick him with a needle and place him back in the corner. Lights fade

Before It's Too Late - Goo Goo Dolls

Before It's Too Late - Goo Goo Dolls

I wonder through fiction to look for the truth
Buried beneath all the lies
And I stood at a distance
To feel who you are
Hiding myself in your eyes
And hold on before it's too late
We'll run til we leave this behind
Don't fall just be who you are
It's all that we need in our lives
And the risk that might break you
Is the one that would save
A life you dont live is still lost
So stand on the edge with me
Hold back your fear and see
Nothing is real til it's gone
Hold on before its too late
We'll run til we leave this behind
Don't fall just be who you are
It's all that we need in our lives
So live like you mean it
Love til you feel it
It's all that we need in our lives
So stand on the edge with me
Hold back your fear and see
Nothing is real til it's gone
And hold on before its too late
We'll run til we leave this behind
Don't fall just be who you are
It's all that we need in our lives
And hold on before its too late
We'll run til we leave this behind
Don't fall just be who you are
It's all that we need in our lives
It's all that we need in our lives
It's all that I need in my life

Play-A-Day (Day ??)

Lights up on a hospital room. In the bed is a little girl. She has tubes coming out of her nose and there is an IV drip next to her going into her arm. She has bandages over most of her body that can be seen. There are a great number of moniters all on one side of the bed monitering heart rate, respiration, and all the works. At the other side of the bed is a chair and sitting in it is a small boy who has his head against the bed and his hands have the little girls in his. He is weeping. After a few moments she begins to stir.

Girl
[With great difficulty] He...Hello [Unable to look around] Who [Coughing] Who's there?

Boy
It's me.

Waiting for a response only not to reviece one

My mom told me about what happened. I just wanted to see how you were doing.

Still no response

I'm sorry I got mad at you the other day. I know you were just trying to help.

Still nothing

Will you please say something?

Nothing

Emily? [Shaking her slightly] EMILY!?

The heart moniter go offs signallying her stopped heartrate. Nurses and docters rush in forcing the boy out of the way. The lights on the stage then go dim. The boy steps forward and adresses the audience.

This is all my fault. If i hadn't gotten mad at her for not playing with me at recess none of this would have ever happened. She wouldn't have been in such a rush to get home. She wouldn't have crossed the street without looking. She wouldn't be here now. She would be fine.

Lights come back up with the docters/nurses once more forcing the boy from the stage as they attempt to save the girl. Lights fade

I'll Wait For You - Sherwood

I'll Wait For You - Sherwood

All in a day,
See it for yourself,
I'll make no change,
When you are somewhere else,
And I'll write for you,
Every chance I get,
Tell me you'll listen,
And say you won't forget
And I'll never say I don't have time,
when you need me with you,
I'll stand in line, if you want me to,
and I'll wait for you,
I'll wait for you
Everyday,
See it for yourself,
I'll make no plans,
When you are somewhere else,
And I'll sing for you,
Songs that no one hears,
But tell me you'll listen,
And say I'll have your ears
And I'll never say I don't have time,
when you need me with you,
I'll stand in line, if you want me to,
and I'll wait for you,
I'll wait for you
And if you have something to say,
Know I won't look away,
No, I won't look away,
And I'll never say I don't have time,
when you need me with you,
I'll stand in line, if you want me to,
and I'll wait for you,
I'll wait for you,
I'll wait for you
I'll keep on waiting for you,
You'd wait for me, whoa,
I'll keep on waiting for you,
You'd wait for me (yeah) whoa,
I'll keep on waiting for you,
You'd wait for me, whoa,
I'll keep on waiting for you (I'll keep on waiting)
You'd wait for me, whoa

Play-A-Day (Day??)

Lights up on the ramp to a ocean-liner. At the base people are walking up it and onto the boat. Once all of these people have walked on stage only two remain. A young man and woman. The woman has a couple of bags of luggage with her and is dressed very nicely and formally. The man is dressed nicely but not as if it were a greatly special occasion.

Man
So you'll be back in three months?

Woman
Something like that. Are you going to be ok while I'm gone?

Man
Yeah I'll be fine. I'm just going to miss you a lot.

Woman
[Teasingly] Well if you miss me too much you know you can call.

Man
[Jokingly] Or I could call your sister up

Woman
Your an ass

Man
You know I'm just kidding

Woman
Doesn't change the fact

Man
I know. You know the more I think about it the more I wonder what I'll do without you for so long.

Woman
Well you can do lots of stuff. Go out and have fun with you guy friends and all that fun stuff.

Man
Yeah but there will be some oftly lonely nights spent without you by my side.

Woman
Well those nights I want you to call me and we can talk till the break of dawn.

Man
I'm going to miss you.

Woman
I'm going to miss you too.

Man
I love you so much

Woman
And I you.

The woman begins to walk up the walk way but slowly comes to a stop and turns back around and runs back to the man and kisses him passionately goodbye then returns up the ramp. Lights fade

We Looked Like Giants - Death Cab For Cutie

We Looked Like Giants - Death Cab For Cutie

God bless the daylight,
the sugary smell of springtime
Remembering when you were mine
In a still suburban town
When every thursday I'd brave those mountain passes
And you'd skip your early classes
And we'd learn how our bodies worked.
God damn the black night with all it's foul temptation
I become what I always hated
When I was with you then
We looked like giants in the back of my grey subcompact
Fumbling to make contact
As the others slept inside
And together there
In a shroud of frost, the mountain air
Began to pass from every pane of weathered glass
And I held you closer than anyone would ever get
Do you remember the JAMC?
And reading aloud from magazines
I don't know about you but I swear on my name they could smell it on me
I've never been too good with secrets.
No...And together there
In a shroud of frost and mountain air
Began to pass through every pane of weathered glass
And I held you closer...

Play-A-Day (Day??)

Lights up on a small apartment. In the middle of the stage is a small dining room table with a man and woman sitting at it. They are slowly eating their meal. Off to the side of the stage is some packed luggage. On top if it is a winter coat. Their is an uneasiness to the man while he eats and he keeps glancing at the woman. Who catches him from time to time.

Woman
[Catching him] Ok would you just tell me what the problem is?

Man
[Caught off-guard] Oh nothing really.

Woman
You're lying. I can always tell you're lying when you add some stupid word like really onto the end of you're sentence. Now tell me? Please.

Man
Look let's just finish this meal. Don't want anything that could possibly ruin this meal.

Woman
Do you promise you'll tell me?

Man
Yes.

Lights fade. Lights come back up at the man has his coat on and is getting ready to leave. The woman walks over to him.

Woman
Will you tell me now?

Man
[Taking a second] Ok. Jullie is pregnant.

Woman
[Awkwardly] Well uhmm congradulations.

Man
No, that's not it. That's the reason I have to tell you this.

Woman
[sensing what it is] Oh god...

Man
I can't keep doing this. You know I love you. But it wouldn't be right.

Woman
No. No I understand.

Man
I'm so sorry. I never meant for it to be this way.

Woman
Please just get out. [Beginning to cry]

Man
[Trying to approach her] Is there...

Woman
Just go!

Man
I'm sorry

Woman
Whatever

The man then picks up his luggage and exits offstage. The woman watches as the man walks away. Once he is a good distance away the woman lifts her shirt a little and feels her stomach and begins to cry. Lights fade

Diamond Girl - Seals and Crofts

Diamond Girl - Seals and Crofts

Diamond Girl - you sure do shine
Glad I found you - glad you're mine
Oh my love you're like a precious stone
Part of earth where heaven has rained on
Makes no difference where you are
Day or nighttime you're like a shinin' star
And how could I shine without you
When it's about you that I am
Diamond Girl - roamin' wild
Such a rare thing - radiant child
I could never find another one like you
Part of me is deep down inside you
Can't you feel the whole world's a-turnin'
We are real and we are a-burnin'
Diamond Girl now that I've found you
It's around you that I am
Diamond Girl - you sure do shine
Diamond Girl - you sure do shine
Diamond Girl - you sure do shine
Diamond Girl - you sure do shine

Play-A-Day (Day ??)

Lights up on a grooms dressing room where he is preparing to walk down the aisle. He is nervous and staring into the mirror. He compulsively fixes his Tuxedo and hair looking for any minor defect. He also from time to time takes large gulps of the bottled water in his room. On the floor near him are several bottles already emptied. He then hears a knock on the door offstage and a voice alerts him of the beginning coming.

Groom
[Staring at the mirror] I do...I do...I do, I do, I do, I DO! Oh dear lord what is wrong with me. You were so sure of this when you asked her. Now look at you. A pathetic nervous wreck. [Trying again] I do. Catherine I do. I do Catherine. You idiot! Stop being a moron and just do it right! Look remember why you're doing this. You love her. You love every moment you're with her. Look at your vows. [He pulls a piece of paper out of his pants] Catherine, Today is the happiest day of my life. Today is the day I will begin to spend the rest of my life with you. Thinking right now about when we first met i'm still amazed you ever wanted anything to do with me. Me being the hot headed jock and you the thoughtful and beautiful drama girl. But how you cooled me off. How you opened my eyes to the world around me. How I owe so much of everything I am to you. I remember one night we spent just sitting on the rocks of the coast watching the waves crash upon the shore. You asked me how I knew i loved you. Well if you remember my answer was the silly little way my heart felt holding you in my arms and that their was another part i'd tell you later when the time was right. Well this is that right time. Catherine I love you because I'm transparent to you. Because you know me. You took the time to know me, to see who I was. Because you have weathered the storm and sailed under the clear sky with me. Because you have given me a peice of you to me and me to you. Because "how could I shine without you". You're the brightest thing I have ever seen my dear. The most radiant star upon the night sky and because [Slowly and playfully] of that funny little way you make my heart feel. Catherine I love you with everything I am and always will. [Having finished reading he returns the paper to his pocket, he has a smile upon his face and is looking into the mirror] This is what is right for me. She is right for me, we are right for eachother. It's 'cause I love her.

He slowly stands and corrects of his attire and begins to take one more gulp but stops and places the bottle back and screws on the cap. He confidently walks offstage. Wedding music is cued. lights fade

Play-A-Day (Day ??)

Lights up on the bathroom of a obviously wealthy families luxurious bathroom. The entire thing is made of expensive rocks and precious metals. Marble bathtub that has room for 5-6 and a shower the size of a small room. There are 3 sinks with one large spralling mirror. A woman enters from offstage dressed very nicely in expensive formal wear. She is crying and highly upset.

Woman
God damn nails. Why can't you just stay right for once?

A voice of a man calls from offstage

Voice
Are you alright sweetie?

Woman
No Phil I am not alright! That bitch cheryl screwed up my nails again. I can't be seen in public with them all screwed up like this!

Voice
Hey now let's calm down.

Woman
No Phil I'm not going to calm down. How would you feel if someone gave you shitty hair gel!

Voice
Well that's why I order it online.

Woman
Would you just shut up. You're no help whatsoever.

The woman rummages through the cabinets

Voice
What are you doing in there?

No response

Sweetie? Hello?

Woman
I thought i told you to shut up Phil! I'm sick of hearing you damn voice. Now just shut up!

Voice
Can't you just open the door

Woman
[Holding a bottle of pills in her hand for sleep] I said shut up!!! [She takes a bunch]

Voice
Ok ok...I'm sorry. Look if you want we can go out together tonight and get you some new nail stylist?

By now the woman has collapsed on the floor

Voice
Hello? Hello? Are you not going to talk to me now? Hello? Oh don't tell me you did this again.

A breaking noise is heard offstage and Phil rushes in until he sees the woman lying on the floor and he rolls his eyes and pulls out his cell phone.

I Go Blind - Hootie & The Blowfish

I Go Blind - Hootie & The Blowfish

Every time I look at you, I go blind.
Every time I look at you, I go blind.
In the mornin I get up, and I try to
Feel alive, but I cant.
Every time I look at you, I go blind.
I dont know what it is.
Something in me just wont give me a chance.
I think its that I feel more confused
By the deal love has shown me.
Little child, did you know that theres a light,
And its gonna shine right through your eyes.
What do you think that life is like?
Every time I look at you, I go blind.
I go blind
Well some where over there theres a purpose,
Theres a care for free
In me theres no body, no one plan,
No one stand to be free.
I think its that because I have seen all the fuss
And its no big deal. no big deal.
Hold me, hold me cause I want to get higher and higher,
Higher than life

At the very end of the bar is a girl who is wearing a comfortable loose black dress. She is wearing large sunglasses that hide her eyes. There is at least one seat between her and the next closest person. Sitting at one of the booth seats nearly even with this girl. He is dressed casually and reading a book. At first everyone is paying attention to themselves or their quiet conversations. After a little bit the man in the booth begins to look around trying to get the attention of a waitor but fails. He then approaches the counter next to wear the previously mentioned girl sits. He takes as seat as he waits to be waited on. After a moment he glances side to side and when he looks towards the girl he keeps his eyes on her for a while. The bartender comes over and tries to get the mans attention but he remains glued to the girl.

Bartender
Hello! Anyone in there?

Man

Man
Well it was very nice to meet you Meredith.

Woman
Same to you James.

The man walks back over to his seat looking over his shoulder on the way watching the girl. When he gets to his seat he picks his book back up but keeps glancing back at the girl every once in a while. The girl then motions to the bartender to come over to her and she then leans in an whispers something to the bartender who responds to her and point the girls finger in the right direction to the man. the girl thanks her and gathers her stuff and walks over to where the man is and places her hands upon the table as she finds her seat.

Man
[Looking up] Hello again

Woman
Hello

There is a slightly awkward silence

Man
It's a wonderful night out tonight isn't it

Woman
I hadn't noticed

Man
Oh...So what are you doing here tonight?

Woman
I like to come here and listen to people

Man
That sounds like a good time.

Woman
I know this may sound weird but i was wondering if I could look at you?

Man
[Looking around unsure] Uhmm ok...

Woman
[Smiling] Will you lean forward?

He nods his head and leans forward only the girl makes no motion

Man
Ok?

Woman
Oh.

The girl takes her hands and places them upon his face and at first he is freaked out but after a moment he looks into her sunglasses and understands. She continues to study his face until she is satisfied. The man then himself really begins to truly study her and he then takes her hands in his and they both feel each others hands.

Man/Woman
Your beautiful.

Lights up on a upscale restruant where in the middle of the stage is a table for two set. In the middle of the table is a small vase with rose in it. A young couple walks in both dressed up very nicely and formally. She is also wearing a fur coat. They approach the table and he pulls out a chair for her to sit and she moves next to it and continues to the other side and begins to remove her coat when the man moves over to help her with it. She keeps it on. They both have a seat.

Man
You look lovely if I may so say.

Woman
What in this? It's just something I threw on last minute.

Man
Well you make it appear ravishing.

Woman
[Bored looking around and signalling a waitor] Waitor! come here please i'd like to order.

Woman

Teenagers - My Chemical Romance

Teenagers - My Chemical Romance

They're gonna clean up your looks
With all the lies on the books
To make a citizen out of you
Because they sleep with a gun
And keep an eye on your son
So they can watch all the things you do
Because the drugs never work
They're gonna give you a smirk
Cause they got methods
Of keeping you clean
They're gonna rip off your heads
Your aspirations to shreds
Another cog in the murder machine
They said all teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed
So darken your clothes
Or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone
But not me
The boys and girls in the clique
The awful names that they stick
You're never gonna fit in much kid
But if you're troubled and hurt
What you got under your shirt
Will make them pay for the things that they did
They said all teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed
So darken your clothes
Or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone
But not me
Whoa yeah!
They said now teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed
So darken your clothes
Or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone
But not me
All together now,
Teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed
So darken your clothes
Or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone
But not me
Teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed
So darken your clothes
Or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone
But not me

Play-A-Day (Day 21)

Lights up on a large changing room of a Punk/Metal band member. There are guitars hung around the wall. There is a large dresser and on top of it is a mirror with pictures of famous "rockers" taped to it. (Most of the objects on stage can be placed wherever it is best suited) There is a large tub on the stage with a black liquid in it. On top of the dresser is a hair drier. Hanging near the dresser is a large clothes rack with a variety of assorted clothes. Enter a plain ordinary looking man. He is wearing black dress pants with and white dress shirt and blue and white tie. In his hand he is holding a dinner jacket and in the other he is holding his keys and a briefcase. His hair is neatly slicked back into an acceptable formal manner. He casually walks into the room and places his brief case upon the dresser. He loosens his tie while having a seat at the dresser. He stares at himself for a while before finally smacking himself in the cheeks a couple of times. He then stands and finishes pulling his tie off and throws in on top of the briefcase. He then walks over to the clothing rack and begins to look through it. After searching for a few moments he finds what he is looking for. A white Che Guevara T-shirt with the picture of Che in red that is nearly skin tight. A black leather jacket with a skull covering most of the back of the jacket. Lastly a pair of black also nearly skin tight pants. He carries the clothes over to his dresser and sets them down next to his briefcase. Next he walks over to the tub of black liquid and unbuttons and removes his white button up shirt and carefully folds it and places it down beside the tub. He then grabs a towel that is next to the tub and places it around his shoulders and the quickly dunks his head under the water. After a moment under he pulls his head back up and quickly wraps the towel around it. Once he is sure no black liquid is dripping he picks up his shirt and carries it over to the dresser. Next he reaches into one of the compartments of the dresser and pulls out hair gel. While waiting for it to further dry he begins to remove his pants. Once he has them off he carefully folds them and places them on top of his shirt. He is wearing yellow smiley face boxers. He then begins to put the skin tight pants on but keeps having the boxers bunch up on him so he instead takes them off reluctantly and grumbles while placing the skin tight pants on. Then he removes the towel and his hair is now Jet Black. He puts on his Che shirt followed by the leather jacket. Then he takes a seat at the dresser and begins to gel large spikes from his hair. Once he has finished he puts the hair dryer on low and lightly blow drys the hair so it hardens. Once he has finished he pulls out a pair of shoes from under the dresser, converse, and puts them on. Next he stands and stares at himself in the mirror. He then sticks his tongue out as far as it will go and once he is satisfied he goes to look at the guitars on the wall and chooses an Ibanez Star. He then returns to the mirror and with the guitar poses. Once he is satisfied with himself he turns towards offstage where a huge uproar of cheering has begun and a voice can be heard announcing. He slowly walks offstage. Lights fade

Drops of Jupiter - Train

Drops of Jupiter - Train

Now that she’s back in the atmosphere
With drops of Jupiter in her hair,
hey, hey, hey, hey
She acts like summer and walks like rain
Reminds me that there’s time to change,
hey, hey, hey, hey
Since the return from her stay on the moon
She listens like spring and she talks like June,
hey, hey, hey, hey
hey, hey, hey, hey
Tell me did you sail across the sun
Did you make it to the milky way to see the lights all faded
And that heaven is overrated
Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star
One without a permanent scar
And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there
Now that she’s back from that soul vacation
Tracing her way through the constellation,
hey, hey, heymmmm.....
She checks out Mozart while she does tae-bo
Reminds me that there’s room to grow,
hey, hey, hey, heyyea...
Now that she’s back in the atmosphere
I’m afraid that she might think of me as plain ol jane
Told a story about a man who is too afraid to fly so he never did land
Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back to the milky way
And tell me, did Venus blow your mind
Was it everything you wanted to find
And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there
Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken
Your best friend always sticking up for you, even when I know you’re wrong
Can you imagine no first dance, freeze dried romance five-hour phone Conversation
The best soy latte that you ever had . . .and me
Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back toward the milky way
Tell me did you sail across the sun
Did you make it to the milky way to see the lights all faded
And that heaven is overrated
Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star
One without a permanent scar
And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself
nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah
And did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
nah nah nah nah nah nah
nah nah nah nah nah nah
And did you fall for a shooting star
Fall for a shooting star
nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah

Play-A-Day (Day 19)

Lights up on a small apartment. In one room there is a bed and next to it a small night stand. Along the outside edge of the room there are two dressers. In the bed one man is sleeping. The alarm clock shows 4:46 am. In another room is a small dining table with two chairs at it. In the last room is a kitchen where there is a refrigrater and small island in the middle. On the back of the stage there is a small counter where a there is also a sink and small cabinet. The man in the bed is sound asleep and does not notice when a young woman enters center stage and has with her a hand bag and some luggage. She sets the luggage down beside the dining room table and sets her coat on a coat rack. She walks to the cabinet and takes out a glass and procedes to fill it with water and drinks it. She then places the glass inside the sink and walks into the bedroom where the young man still is sound asleep. She goes over to the side of the bed and leans down to kiss the young man on the lips. Upon doing so he stirs and slowly awakens.

Man
[Still not fully awake] Huh? Who's there?

Woman
It's be baby. I'm home.

Man
Jamie?

Woman
That's me [Sitting down next to him on the bed]

Man
What time is it? [Looking around]

Woman
Early. Sorry if you didn't want to be woken

Man
No that's fine.

Woman
Oh I have so much to tell you about.

Man
Well I'm awake now. [Sitting up more]

Woman
No you can get back to sleep i'll tell you in the morning

Man
Hey you've been gone for a month. I'll give up a couple of hours of sleep to be with you for a little bit.

Woman
[Standing up] No really it's fine

Man
[Taking her hand before she gets to far away] Hey. Jamie come on spill.

Woman
You sure?

Man
Do you think i'd be nearly begging to know if I didn't

Woman
Well I don't even know where to begin

Man
Well how about with whether or not you found what you were looking for.

Woman
[Looking at him deep in the eyes] Yeah. Now that I think about it. Yeah I think I did

Man
Now? So what did you do the rest of the time?

Woman
I explored.

Man
With the intent to find?

Woman
Anything or everything.

Man
Well I'm glad you had a month to go exploring while I was here alone worried about if you were ok every single day

Woman
Hey, I'm sorry but this was something I had to do.

Man
[Slightly irritated] Well maybe when I have to go shopping for a suite I''ll spend a month looking for everything and anything.

Woman
[Defensive] Hey you don't need to be pissy with me. You know this wasn't just some waste of time. Things inside of me had been falling apart.

Man
Well from the looks of it things are pretty well together now [slight pause] without you really discovering anything.

Woman
Sometimes time is the best healer...other times it's distance

Man
Oh really now. And what exactly do you mean by that?

Pause

Woman
I'm sorry I shouldn't have said that.

Man
Well you did and it obviously meant something

Woman
It meant that I'm tired and not thinking straight.

Man
Well here you go [Getting up out of the bed] I'll go sleep in the kitchen.

Woman
Fine!

The young man gathers some stuff to sleep on and carries it into the kitchen. He makes his makeshift bed and lies down in it and tries to fall asleep. The young woman stands the the side of the bed still. She then gets ready to sleep and lies down in the bed but can't sleep. She remains there for a moment until she calls across the stage to the young man.

Woman
I didn't mean to you [waits for a response only not to recieve one] It's just I didn't realize it until just a bit ago because [Searching for what to say] Because I hadn't seen you in so long i'd forgotten how you kept me together so well.

There is silence on stage

Woman
Will you please come to bed? I don't want to spend another night alone.

The young man at first doesnt move but then gathers his stuff and moves back into the bedroom. He tosses the stuff he had been carrying onto her

Woman
Hey!

Man
Now we're even

He lays down beside her and kisses her. Lights fade

One is the Loneliest Number - BSO

One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
Two can be as bad as one
It's the loneliest number since the number one
No is the saddest experience you'll ever know
Yes, it's the saddest experience you'll ever know
`Cause one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
One is the loneliest number, worse than two
It's just no good anymore since she went away
Now I spend my time just making rhymes of yesterday
One is the loneliest, number one is the loneliest
Number one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
One is the loneliest, one is the loneliest
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
It's just no good anymore since she went away
(Number) One is the loneliest
(Number) One is the loneliest
(Number) One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
(Number) One is the loneliest(Number)
One is the loneliest(Number)
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do

Play-A-Day (Day 18)

Lights up on a railroad station. There are crowds of people sitting around on the benches scattered throughout the stage. Everyone is eagerly anticipating the arrival of the train. That can be seen by nervous walking and pacing along with the slightest noise causing some of the characters to jump and be startled. The people sitting or pacing can be talking with each other from time to time of their anticipation of the arrival of loved ones, friends, business members. The major characters sitting/pacing are Jeffery a middle aged man greatly anticipating the return of his wife of 25 years from a business trip that took her to China for a month. Rush is a heroin hooked 20-something year old painfully awaiting the return of his dealer so he can get his latest fix to last him. He is very antsy and nervous about everyone around him. He has obviously not had any drugs in a while. Mary is a young girl sitting with her father Jason and they are both awaiting the return of Andre. Andre and Jason are married together and are both homosexual and have received a great number of forms of harassment throughout the years for their open relationship and love for each other. They have raised Mary to be a sweet and affectionate girl who is accepting of all peoples. Mary however ever since she began school has seen male and female relationships and has become slightly disgusted at her two fathers and saddened at her lack of a mother. Mike is a 20 something year old college student awaiting the return of his girlfriend of four years. His girlfriend has been in NYC for the past 6 months trying to get a degree in acting. Mike from time to time reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small square box and opens it up and upon seeing it’s still there quickly closes the box and returns it to his pocket. Each of these charactors will stand up and introduce themselves to the audience and briefly explain who they are and who they are waiting for. After all have introduced themselves all characters stand together and say “One of us will be left alone”. The characters then go back to their verbal or non verbal activities. After a few minutes a voice over the intercom announces the 8 o’clock from NYC has arrived and passengers have begun to depart. All of the characters begin to show their overwhelming anticipation at being reunited with the person they are looking forward to seeing. One by one members of the train walk on stage and go to their proper party. First Jeffrey’s wife comes onstage. She has not gone one night since leaving without sex. She is to appear alien to Jeffrey who is regardless overwhelmed at her return. They exit offstage. Next up is Rush’s drug dealer who is carrying a large plastic bag. Rush quickly goes to him and snatches the bag which the dealer quickly snatches back and shoves Rush to the ground. He then exits offstage but not before looking around shadily. Rush hurries after him. Andre is the next to return. Only upon his entering a young blonde woman is holding his hand. Mary rushes over to him and hugs him. Jason simply stands and has a puzzled and lost look upon his face. Mary begins to cling to Andre and the woman. Jason is shocked and hurt and lost. He walks offstage. Andre quickly follows after him. The young woman and Mary take hands and walk after them in no rush. Mary appears overwhelmingly happy with an older female. Mike’s girlfriend then enters the stage. Mike runs over to her and they embrace. Mike them quickly drops to a kneel and proposes to her. She looks about unsure. She eventually closes the box and slowly backs up offstage. Mike is left where he was with the closed ring box in his hand. He is frozen and the ring box falls from his hand and he makes no motion to save it. The ring falls out and bounces across the floor. We're Going to be Friends - The White Stripes

We're Going to be Friends - The White Stripes

fall is here,
hear the yell back to school,
ring the bell brand new shoes,
walking blues climb the fence,
book and pens i can tell that we are gonna be friends walk with me,
suzy lee through the park,
by the tree we will rest upon the ground and look at all the bugs we've found
then safely walk to school without a sound
well here we are,
no one else we walked to school all by ourselves
there's dirt on our uniforms from chasing all the ants and worms
we clean up and now it's time to learn
numbers, letters, learn to spell
nouns, and books, and show and tell
at playtime we will throw the ball back to class,
through the hall teacher marks our height against the wall
and we don't notice any time pass
we don't notice anything
we sit side by side in every class
teacher thinks that i sound funny but she likes the way you sing
tonight i'll dream while i'm in bed
when silly thoughts go through my head about the bugs and alphabet
and when i wake tomorrow
i'll bet that you and i will walk together again
cause i can tell that we are going to be friends

Play-A-Day (Day 17)

Lights up on small boys room where there are toys scattered all around. Toy story posters are plastered all over the wall of the room and in the middle there is a boy who is sleeping in bed. The alarm clock on top of his night stand is at 6:59 and a few moments later it flashes 7:00 and an alarm begin to beep. The boy awakes and quickly shuts the alarm off and stands but upon looking at his bookbag he cowardly returns to his bed under the covers where he remains. Lights fade. Lights come back up on the clock showing 7:30. the alarm once again begins to sound. This time the boy's mother comes upstairs and whips the covers off of him and shuts the alarm off.

Mother
Billy, get up or you're going to be late!

Billy
Mom can't i just stay home today?

Mother
Why do you want to stay home Billy?

Billy
[Not sure of what to say] I just don't really think today's going to be a good day.

Mother
Well i can tell you that if you stay home it won't be a good day because you'll be cleaning your room all day. Now get outa bed and get to school. You're going to have to walk today. Now get to it

Mother exits and leaves the boy to begin getting ready. Lights fade. Lights come up on the street where the mother has walked Billy to.

Billy
Mom please, can i stay home?

Mother
Billy I already told you. Now get to school. Look [Pointing over to the other side of the stage] One of your little friends. You two can walk to school together.

Billy
But mom I don't even know her

Mother exits offstage before Billy even finishes. Billy stands awkwardly alone at the edge of the road for a while as the person that his mother had pointed to walks onstage. Her name is Jamie and she is the same age as Billy and has a shy look about her. She doesn't notice Billy at first until she get's closer and stops in hesitance. Billy looks towards her then nervously begins to walk offstage.

Jamie
[Stepping forward] Hi.

Billy stops moving away.

Billy
[Turning about to her] Hi.

Jamie
My names Jamie [Moving towards Billy with her hand extended]

Billy
[Moving towards her cautiously] My names Billy

Jamie
Nice to meet you Billy [Smiling at him]

Billy
You too. So are you new here?

Jamie
Yes my family just moved in this past weekend

Billy
Oh that's cool

Jamie
Yeah, I guess. I didn't really want to go to school today. But now that i've met someone I'm glad I did.

Billy
[Flashing a slight smile] Yeah I didn't really want to go to school either. But here I am. My mom made me.

Jamie
Oh well why didn't you want to come to school?

Billy
[Shyly] Because I don't really have any friends.

Jamie
Oh I'm sure that you have some friends

Billy
No I really don't.

Jamie
Well I'll be your friend

Billy
[Smiling] Really?

Jamie
Of course. Now come on let's get to school before we've late.

They exit offstage. Lights fade

Marching Bands Of Manhattan - Death Cab For Cutie

Marching Bands Over Manhattan - Death Cab For Cutie

If I could open my arms
And span the length of the isle of Manhattan,
I'd bring it to where you are
Making a lake of the East River and Hudson
If I could open my mouth
Wide enough for a marching band to march out
They would make your name sing
And bend through alleys and bounce off all the buildings.
I wish we could open our eyes
To see in all directions at the same time
Oh what a beautiful view
If you were never aware of what was around you
And it is true what you said
That I live like a hermit in my own head
But when the sun shines again
I'll pull the curtains and blinds to let the light in.
Sorrow drips into your heart through a pinhole
Just like a faucet that leaks and there is comfort in the sound
But while you debate half empty or half full
It slowly rises, your love is gonna drown
Your love is gonna drown
Your love is gonna...

Play-A-Day (Day 17)

Lights up on a boardwalk setting where a boy and girl are sitting on the railing looking out at the sea. They are sitting closer together than normal people would but there is a distance between them. They both appear internally conflicted over something similar. The next to lines are from inside of the charactors minds.

Boy
What is wrong with this. This should be such a magical thing. I mean who could ask for a better setting. Yet all i can find myself thinking of is being somewhere else. [Looking to the girl] It's not like i'm not attracted to her or anything. It's just i don't care i guess. At least not right now. I just wish i could know what she was thinking and how she really felt maybe that would solidify this.

Girl
[Looking to the boy] I wonder what is going on inside of there. Something obviously has his attention. He's barely spoken two words to me the whole time we've been here. I wonder if i could have done something wrong. Come on think. Is there something you might have done recently that would have upset him? I don't think so. But how can i know. Oh i wish we could just verbalize all of what's in our minds. It would make everything so much easier. [Rubbing her arms] Great now it's starting to get cold out here.

Boy notices she's getting cold and takes off his jacket and hands it to her.

Boy and Girl
Maybe there is hope...

Girl places her head on the boys should. He places his arm around her. Lights fade

Girlfriend - Eve 6

Girlfriend - Eve 6

Your really gone, girlfriend
The dryer's on, Amen
And im alone for the first time(I walk away now)
You left a sock, girlfriend
Wheres the pair, broken
Are you aware that im missing you(I walk away now)
but I cant run to you no more
to catch me when im falling
I know I have to let you go
But I will not be broken

But keep the slow fading memories
This place is strange, empty
You did your time, plenty
And the walls are bare where your pictures hung
But I cant call you up no more
And no we cant just be friends
but now its time to let you go
but I will not be broken
no I will not be broken
and keep the slowly fading
memories memories
I'm keeping these memories
I cant run to you no more
to catch me when im fallin
I know I have to let you go
But I will not be broken
For ever tear a lesson learned
Every good time golden
But now its time to let you go
And I will not be broken
And I will not be broken
No I will not be broken
But keep the slowly fading memories

Play-A-Day (Day 15)

Lights up on a studio apartment. In the apartment the walls at near random have light patches consistant with the size of picture frames. In one corner of the room a dryer is running with a load of laundry in it. The room is clean and tidy. The ceiling fan in the room is off but has obviously just been turned off recently with its slow turning continually getting slower. Everything in the room looks too little to be in the room. The room itself appears large and more or less barely filled if that. The bed in the room is perfectly made and on top of it is a recording tape with a sticky reading "Play me" on it. The needs to have an aura of emptiness in it. On a nightstand sits and answering machine with a tape already in it. It is blinking red with a message on it. On top of a computer desk is a stereo with a cassette player. Sleeping in a small animal bed is Jessie (a cat) who sleeps soundly oblivious to the world around. At the foot of the dryer rests a single small sock with a pink heel. No one is in the room at first (except the cat) until after a little while a young man enters. He looks around the room at shock in first. Not expecting to see the room so empty upon his arrival. He looks around causiously at first but seeing no one is there he relaxes a bit. Then he walks over the the washing machine and notices the sock on the floor and picks it up and places it on the top of the washing machine. He then turns back to the room and notices the tape on the bed and walks over to it with a certain curiousity. He sees the note on top of it without a name on it and he then places it into the stereo and as it begins he moves over and picks up Jessie the cat and pets her while checking through stuff as the tape begins. It is a young womans voice

Voice
If you're hearing this then chances are we won't ever see each other again. I know you're probably asking yourself what exactly is going on...but i think the best way to go about this is with as little information as possible. Oh and don't worry about the dryer i'll be back to pick it all up sometime while you're gone. Please understand this is for the best for both of us. I truly am sorry. Goodbye.

The young man is by this point sitting on his bed with the cat stroking it softly. He then lays down in the bed filled with a sense of defeat. As he lies down a beep is heard and he jumps and the cat runs away. He then sees the noise is from the answering machine which has a message on it. He plays the message. It is a mans voice.

Mans voice
Hey baby you packed yet. I'm waiting down here freezing my ass off. I've got all my stuff unpacked in the apartment now it just needs you hot little...

The young man grabs and throws the answering machine to the flew breaking it. Lights fade

Choke on This - Senses Fail

Choke on This - Senses Fail

Half smoked cigarettes and you're that trash that infests my sheets
Can't make a wife out of a whore, don't want your skin on me
And you're, you're addicted to the drug of lust
A de-tox in the cold sweat of shame and I love your pain
I gave you these roses now but I left in the thorns
I'd rather hurt someone than hurt myself
I'll dispose of you like a lighter out of fuel
I'll lose you somewhere on a dusty shelf
So this love's been worn down, like songs on a tape
The sex has lost all of its fun, like gum loses taste
And you're, you're addicted to the drug of lust,
A de-tox in the cold sweat of shame and I love your pain
I gave you these roses now but I left in the thorns
I'd rather hurt someone than hurt myself
I'll dispose of you like a lighter out of fuel
I'll lose you somewhere on the shelf
I'm here lying in your bed babe
Remember what you said to me
"You can be my James Dean, I'll be your sweet queen"
I said that you were my first, but you weren't even close now
Like a frame in a movie, you're just one of many
Can you grant me one last wish
Play russian roulette as we kiss
I'll be your cheap novelty
Blow your brains out on me
I gave you these roses now but I left in the thorns
I'd rather hurt someone than hurt myself
I'll dispose of you like a lighter out of fuel
I'll lose you somewhere on the shelf

Play-A-Day (Day 14)

Lights up on a dump motel room. There is only one bed in the room and two people are asleep on it. Both are wearing little of no clothes. On the nightstand next to the bed there are still half smoked cigarettes burning in the ash tray. Clothes are littered haphazardly across the room as if they were discarded at random. There is a apatheticness to the young man in the bed. He is awake after a few moments and simply lays there eyes wide open. The young woman he is with then begins to stir and rolls over to his side and places her arm around him.

Woman
That was amazing, baby

Man
[Tossing her hand off him and stands up] Get off me.

Woman
Well arn't we in a sour mood this morning [She stands up with the sheet covering her body and moves to collect her clothes] You'd think you might be a little more polite to you're first time.

Man
Ha that's a joke

Woman
What?

Man
First time? ha that's a joke.

Woman
What are you talking about?

Man
What do you think I'm talking about. [Laughs]

The young woman looks rather shocked and frightened she the quickly gathers up the rest of her clothes and begins to dress and tries to ignore the young man.

Oh what's the matter now? [Picks up an article of her clothing and throws it at her] You were in such a rush to get them off last night.

Woman
Your a pig!

Man
What because you thought it was my first?

Woman
No because it was mine!

Man
Oh...Well looks like it was my lucky night.

Woman
[Nearly dressed now gather the rest of her stuff in her hands and walks offstage] Fuck you!

Man
[Calling after her] Been there done that!

He picks up his cigarette and begins to smoke it and flips on the TV. Lights fade

Beautiful Disaster - Jon Mclaughlin

Beautiful Distaster - Jon Mclaughin

She loves her mama's lemonade,
Hates the sound that goodbyes make.
She prays one day she'll find someone to need her.
She swears that there's no difference,
Between the lies and compliments.
It's all the same if everybody leaves her.
And every magazine tells her she's not good enough,
The pictures that she sees make her cry.
And she would change everything, everything just ask her.
Caught in the in between, a beautiful disaster,
And she just needs someone to take her home.
She's giving boys what they want, tries to act so nonchalant,
Afraid they'll see that she's lost her direction.
She never stays the same for long,
Assuming that she'll get it wrong.
Perfect only in her imperfections.
She's not a drama queen,
She doesn't want to feel this way, only seventeen but tired
She would change everything for happy ever after.
Caught in the in between, a beautiful disaster,
But she just needs someone to take her home.
Cuz she's just the way she is, but no ones told her that's ok.
And she would change everything, everything just ask her.
Caught in the in between of beautiful disaster,
And she would change everything for happy ever after.
Caught in the in between of beautiful disaster,
But she just needs someone to take her home
And she just needs someone to take her home.

Play-A-Day (Day 13)

Lights up on a highschool hallway. In the hallway there is a young boy (Adam) and his glasses wearing friend (Jake) standing next to a locker talking when a girl (Ashley) enters. With her is an older looking boy. She has an ashamed look on her face and her and the older boy then quickly slip offstage into the "bathroom". Before she exits offstage she glances quickly at Adam with the look of someone who wishes she were somewhere else. Adam has been watching her the whole time she has been onstage and completely ignored all that Jake had been saying. Once Ashley is offstage Adam keeps looking at the direction that Ashley had gone offstage and a look of sadness and disgust cross his face and he quickly slams his locker shut with a loud bang. This whole time Jake has been trying to get the attention of Adam who has been preoccupied with Ashley. Jake takes a couple of steps back as Adam slams the locker shut.

Adam
[Bursting out still not paying much attention to Jake] This is a load of shit!

Jake
Dude! what world on you on? Have you heard a single word I've said to you in the past 5 minutes?

Adam
[Still ignorant to Jake] Why is she going in there with some asshole like that?

Jake
[Confused] Where? What asshole?

Adam
[Annoyed] You really are blind arn't you [Flicking Jakes glasses] Ashley just walked into the bathroom with that prick Micheal!

Jake
[Unsure of the significance] So? What's that to you? Just lets her fit in all the better with the rest of her whore friends.

Adam
[Angered] You know what Jake, shut up. You don't know her.

Jake
[Laughing, with ridicule in his voice] Oh and what you do?

Adam
[Longingly] Well enough.

Jake
[More understanding] Look, dude, just give it up. That's just the type of girl she is. That's not what you want is it?

Adam
[Explaining] But that's the thing, she's not like that. I know you don't believe me but I know. Something about her doesn't fit in with other girls. She isn't like them.

Jake
Dude that's just what she wants you to think.

The bell rings throughout the stage signalling it's time to get to class.

Look man I gotta get to class Peter's will kill me if I'm late again. I'll see ya later

Places his hand upon Adams shoulder to try to get some reaction from him. Just as he does this Micheal exits the bathroom and zips himself up. Adams attention solely focuses on the area where the bathroom door is. Jake realizes this shakes his head and walks offstage. Micheal walks past where Adam is standing and bumps into Adam

Micheal
Watch out you little bitch.

Adam backs out of the way against the locker and out of Micheals way. Micheal then exits offstage. Adam stands where he is for a while. A soft crying sound is heard from the direction of the bathroom and it catches Adams attention. Adam slowly inches his way towards the door and after looking around for a moment opens the door and as he stands in the door way.

Adam
Are you ok? [Adam is already entering the room as he says having seen Ashley and only finishes what he is saying out of trivality]

Adam enters the room. Lights fade

What Sarah Said - Death Cab For Cutie

What Sarah Said - Death Cab For Cutie

And it came to me then that every plan is a tiny prayer to father time
As I stared at my shoes in the ICU that reeked of piss and 409
And I rationed my breaths as I said to myself that I'd already taken too much today
As each descending peak on the LCD took you a little farther away from me
Away from me

Amongst the vending machines and year-old magazines in a place where we only say goodbye
It stung like a violent wind that our memories depend on a faulty camera in our minds
But I knew that you were a truth I would rather lose than to have never lain beside at all
And I looked around at all the eyes on the ground as the TV entertained itself

'Cause there's no comfort in the waiting room
Just nervous pacers bracing for bad news
And then the nurse comes round and everyone will lift their heads
But I'm thinking of what Sarah said that "Love is watching someone die"

So who's going to watch you die?..

Play-A-Day (Day 13)

Lights up on a living room setting of a middle class couple in there mid to late twenties. Their is no one in the room but a phone begins to ring and then a voice is heard explaining that one Sarah was in a certain hospital after an accident. The room is set up on either the left or the right of the stage leaving room for another small separate room on the other side of the stage. After a moment a man walks in, Jason, he is carrying with him a bag opf groceries which he begins to place into their respective locations in the room. In the middle of this he see there is a message on the answering machine and switches it on. The first message that plays is just an employer calling to remind him about a file that is needed. Jason erases that message once it has finished. The next message is the one about Sarah. As it plays lights slowly come up on the opposite side of the stage in a medical room where Sarah is lying on a bed in the hospital. She is badly beaten up and the beep of her heart rate is steady but slow. There are two or three people around her. As it begins to play Jason doesn't fully comprehend what is going on as he is only half listening. The moment it says she was in an accident however Jason drops whatever he is holding and moves over to the phone and listens to the rest of the message intently. Once it has finished he replays it again. Then once more. The last time while it is playing he sicks into the couch in the middle of the room. He then picks up a picture of Sarah and him that is on the table in front of him. He holds it tenderly in his hands.

Jason
[To the picture] How could this happen to you?... Why did this happen to you? What did you ever do wrong?... [A pause] I'm coming for you.

Jason exits offstage and lights fade from the room he was in but remain up on the room Sarah is in. Jason then enters.

Jason
Sarah!...Oh Sarah what happened?

Sarah
[Weak and barely able to speak] Jason...I was worried...that...that...you...might not...

Jason
Shh shh... you rest right now. Save your strength. Whatever it is you can tell me when you're stronger.

They both remain silent for the next few moment with Jason holding Sarahs hand and stroking her hair. Sarah then breaks the silence

Sarah
[Weakly] Remember what I told you about love?

Jason
[A little teary eyed] No what about love?

Sarah
Love is watching someone die...

Jason
[Breaking down] No...Sarah...Sarah your not dying...your going to be ok

Sarah
[Reaching up and touching Jason on the cheek] It's ok...I know that you love me...that's all I need

The heart moniter then fails and nurses and docters rush in pulling Jason away from Sarah who stands by helplessly watching Sarah die. Lights fade

Existentialism On Prom Night - Straylight Run

Existentialism On Prom Night - Straylight Run

When the sun came up, We were sleeping in,
Sunk inside our blankets,Sprawled across the bed,
And we were dreaming, There are moments when,
When I know it and the world revolves around us,
And we're keeping it, Keep it all going,
This delicate balance, Vulnerable all knowing,
Sing like you think no one's listening,
You would kill for this, Just a little bit, Just a little bit,
You would kill for this
Sing like you think no one's listening,
You would kill for this, Just a little bit, Just a little bit,
You would, you would...
Sing me something soft, Sad and delicate, Or loud and out of key,
Sing me anything, we're glad for what we've got,
Done with what we've lost
Our whole lives laid out right in front of us,
Sing like you think no one's listening,
You would kill for this, Just a little bit, Just a little bit, You would,
Sing like you think no one's listening,
You would kill for this, Just a little bit, Just a little bit, You would, you would....
Sing me something soft, Sad and delicate, Or loud and out of key, Sing me anything.

Play-A-Day (Day 12)

Lights up on a peaceful bedroom. The room is in pristine condition and is nearly spotless. The lights off the side of the stage give the impression the sun is just rising. At the center of the stage is a young couple lying in bed together. This couple can be of any sexual orientation. As the offstage lights give the effect of the sun one of the two begins to rise and walks over to the other and softly kisses he/she/it on the head and then turns and ventures offstage and is offstage for about five minutes. About a minute into this the other person begins to stir and slowly awakes and after he/she/it looks around and sees that their partner is gone he/she/it goes offstage on the other side of the stage and when he/she/it comes back this person is wearing a bathrobe and walks back to the bed and sits down and reaches into the night stand on that side and pulls out a pair of glasses and places them upon his/her/its head. The one who had been offstage now return and is carrying in a breakfast tray over to his/her/its partner.

One
I made you breakfast [Smiling cheerfully]

Two
I couldn't tell [Standing to kiss him/her/it on the lips and then does]

One
Now you sit down and eat this delicious meal I made you.

Two
[Laying down in bed with the tray overlapping] Well alright then [Begins to eat the wonderous meal set forth]

One
[Laying down on the opposite side of the bed leaning over staring towards the other] You know how perfect this is? I woke up this morning and saw that sun and for a moment could have sworn I was in heaven, seeing you there beside me with such absolute pristine beauty around us.

Two
[Gently looking over] I know what you mean. I can't think of much more perfect. [Smiling tenderly]

One
I love you, you know that.

Two
I do. [Quietly] Sing me something soft sad and delicate or loud and out of key...sing me anything

One then begins to softly sing to two as the lights begin to fade. Lights out
